About
Donyanaz Nazem is an architect and artist with over 15 years of experience in architecture. She holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from Columbia University in New York City. In her 30s, she began translating her conceptual thoughts into art, deeply influenced by her architectural background. Donyanaz believes that visual communication is one of the most profound ways to convey concepts, as words often limit the extent of their meaning. Through art, she fosters a deeper connection between herself and her audience.
To her, art is a universal language that bridges gaps between people, helping to fill the void we all feel within ourselves. It brings people closer together and conveys important messages on a deeper level that can resonate longer than a lifetime. Art can evoke a range of emotions, from pleasant feelings to heightened heartbeats, calmness, or even fear, by uncovering hidden layers of memories, thoughts, and beliefs. Her work prominently features horses, symbolizing the chance to travel through different regions, mindsets, and beliefs, and represents strength with a wild yet calm character. Her art is characterized by a unique play with perspective, inviting viewers to experience multiple viewpoints simultaneously within a single 2D frame, leading them into a surreal dimension of space. The influence of her architectural mindset is evident in most of her artworks. She has explored these concepts through various collections, including the Freedom Collection, Mustache Collection, Horse Collection, Creation Collection, and Darvish Collection. Awarded 1st prize in three architectural competitions in Iran, Donyanaz continues to capture the essence of Iranian architecture in her contemporary designs. Driven by a profound curiosity about universal concepts like freedom, she draws inspiration from philosophy, mysticism, poetry, and art.
